What is counselling?

Counselling provides the opportunity to talk in confidence to someone who is trained to listen.  Counselling can help make sense of what you are feeling about situations or difficulties you are experiencing in your life at this time.

Your counsellor will not give you advice, make decisions for you or make judgements about your situation. Their role is to help you find out why you feel as you do, explore choices and support you to find a way forward that is right for you. You will work in a private and confidential setting where you will be able to talk freely and openly about feelings which aren't always easy to talk about with family and friends.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I GET IN TOUCH?

Making a request

Anyone over 18 years of age can make a request for counselling. This request will give us your contact details and the reasons why you are seeking support.

Your counselling session cost is negotiated depending upon your personal circumstances when you meet someone from our team (this is usually between £15 & £40 depending on what you can afford)

Arrange to meet

Once we have received your request, a staff member will be in touch within two weeks to arrange a time to meet for an initial assessment.  Your assessment fee is £25.00 and paid on the day to your assessor. Your fee for your counselling sessions will be negotiated in this meeting, your personal circumstances will be taken into account and a weekly session cost will be individual to you and what you can afford in order to sustain therapy on a weekly basis.

Have an assessment

You will be invited to come along to our therapy rooms to have an assessment.  This is completed by an experienced member of our therapeutic team who will then match you with someone in our counselling team who can accommodate the times you are available.

You can view our team on the meet the team page.  The team consists of both trainee and qualified  counsellors, all with a variety of counselling and therapeutic skills to offer.

Meet your Counsellor

Once your counsellor has your assessment details they will contact you to arrange a start date for your support.  This will be weekly on a suitable day and time agreed.  You will then begin your therapy, this can be for up to 6 months, and something you will individually agree on with your counsellor.

We'd love to hear from you
